Union and league are two main types of rugby.  These two types have considerable differences in their rules and regulations. These two types also have their own games and championships. The game which simply known as rugby is the football of rugby union and I am talking about this kind of rugby in this articles.

Usually, there are 13 or 15 players in each team of rugby, but it is also played with seven players in each team and this division is called rugby sevens. In all these types, the duration of the game is eighty minutes that is spilt in two half with ten minutes break. In rugby players are also allowed to kick the ball at any time in the game and players can even kick the ball for goal kicks and penalty.

Rugby is known as a full-contact sport that is played without any head protection or padded uniforms and that’s why rugby players often have face serious injuries and even more than injuries in any other game. Though strict rules regarding blocking other players have been formed, injuries and other accidents are quite frequent in this game.

Players are allowed to wear fingerless gloves, but most of the players do not like to wear these gloves in the game. Similarly, wearing gumshields to protect the tongue and teeth are mandatory. Rugby players wear a collared jersey t-shirt and shorts as their uniform during the game. The game is played in a way quite similar to American football.
