The term Congress is used for a formal assembly of representatives from different nations or other independent organizations. Usually, in this type of assembly or meeting related problems and issues are discussed.

The term was chose for the US Congress mainly to highlight the status of every state for the representation of a self-governing entity. The US legislature widely used that term, and many different states that exist within the unions also began to adopt that term.

The term is also used to refer sexual intercourse, act of meeting or coming together, and the two-year session of the national legislative body of the US. Congress is also the name of a leading political party in India.

In the US Congress is a government’s oversight and lawmaking body that is consisted of two chambers known as the Senate and the House of Representative. For every state two Senators are entitled and they both serve for a 6-year term and similarly, there is a Representative for every congressional district who usually serve for a two-year term.

January 3 is the date for commencing congress and it lasts fro 2-years and in each year a different session is constituted.

The House of Representative is presided over by the speaker and the speaker’s appointed chairman preside over the Committee of the Whole and it also appoints all conference committees, select and special committees as well as makes important decisions and rulings for the House.

The Senate is presided over by the Majority Leader and it is the majority party of the Senate which elects this Majority Leader who has to sever as Senate’s spokesperson. The Majority Leader advocates the viewpoints and policies of it. S/he is also responsible to determine the legislative schedule on the Senate floor.
