While it might not be an accurate representation of body fat, it still shows common sense. I'm a 19 year old. I'm 5'4" and I weigh 115. BMI is 19.7. Even though it's still in the upper end of normal, if I gained 25 pounds. I would be chunky. The end of this post seems to make people feel better about where they are on the BMI chart and offers a lot of excuses. Every woman in my family over the age of 30 has a weight problem and not one of them does anything about it because of excuses like these. "Oh I'm not fat, I just have a large chest" is a terrible excuse.

There's a large difference in BMI numbers:
*  Underweight = <18.5
    * Normal weight = 18.5-24.9
    * Overweight = 25-29.9
    * Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater

This difference exists because of differences in body type.
