What is Air

This item was filled under Misc

The surrounding atmosphere of the Earth is replete with air. The air which is found in the surrounding atmosphere of the Earth is consisted of different gases and nitrogen is the most oxygen gas among them that constitutes nearly 78% of the air, and similarly, oxygen is about 21 percent in the air.

These gases are found in molecules and there are some other air molecules that are also found in the air in small amounts. Life is because of air, and it can’t exist on this planet with it. Plants and animals need gasses from the atmosphere. Plants absorb carbon dioxide from the air to perform photosynthesis. Oxygen which is essential for the survival of the animals is also got through the air.

As we move up in altitude through the atmosphere, the molecules concentration begins to decrease. This form of air is also referred as thin air. The higher we go in the atmosphere, the thinner the air becomes and it is mainly because of the lower air pressure.

A special layer of air molecules known as the ozone layer is found high in the stratosphere layer of the earth. The composition of the atmosphere is not the same in the ozone layer. The strongest rays of the sun are blocked by the Ozone molecules. The scientists have been monitoring this layer for quite some time and they have found that this layer is becoming thinner and thinner with every passing day.
